First HDV Music clip to film: “You’re Gone”

A community project funded by the Motor Accidents Authority and Bankstown City Council.

This 3 minute and 50 second music clip became the first music clip in Australia to be transferred from HDV to 35 mm Film. Creative Director Mr El-Harris stated, “I was more than satisfied with the transfer, and amazed that the sharpness was maintained. The only thing to watch out for is the brightness of the image before it goes to transfer and the speed, you need to note that your video will be transferred to 24fps rather than the Australian PAL video 25fps”

The music clip is due to be released state wide in NSW and possibly other states in Hoyts movie theatres -right before selected films throughout 2007
. The release dates are as follows:

19 April through 2 May.  The video will be played as a trailer for youth-oriented films to coincide with the end of Youth Week.  Cinemas will be: Auburn Reading, Bankstown Hoyts, Burwood GU, Cronulla, Hurstville GU, Liverpool GU and Miranda GU.

Episode 10: Desert Ghosts

David Ireland’s latest adventure is set on Comeroo Station which is about 1000 km north west from Sydney. In this film David Ireland journeys to encounter what the settlers called "Desert Ghosts". In the process he encounters snakes, lizards, frogs, wild horses, and a hell of a monster storm.

The production was filmed entirely in High Definition and has been delivered to channel 9 and screened late 2006.

Assistant Editor Mr Issa claimed “Despite the monster rendering and grading involved, I found that the film has come across incredibly well, both visually and through its content”.

A further 3 episodes have been completed late 2006-2007, they are:

Episode 11: Hand feeding sharks (Australia)
Episode 12:Treasure in Paradise (East Timor)
Episode 13: Wild Boars of the Australian Outback (Australia)

High Definition (HD) at your finger tips

Filmotion productions has been leading the way with new technologies in Australia by being the first to use HD in a real-time environment.

We are proud to be one of the first in the southern pacific to film and edit in the HDV format during the early months of 2004.

HDV offers high quality video starting with a frame size of 1440 x 1080 pixels, compared to standard definition that is 720 x 576 pixels. Meaning that HDV is 4 times the picture quality than the previous format.

Filmotion productions tested a projected image of H DV on a HD projector, We discovered that at cinema size, the image still retained it’s sharpness.
